I enjoyed my first Principal's Coffee with a small group of parents today. Much of the conversation was around our new math program enVision2.0. At the conclusion of our time together, I hope I conveyed helpful information! I look forward to the next Principal's Coffee to be held sometime in January.
Mrs. Wang and her colleagues from the Confucius Institute presented some fantastic demonstrations for the students.
I want to let you know that we have been reviewing and re-evaluating our safety protocols. Allow me to review some of our basic procedures with you, especially if you are new to Wheelock. Upon visiting Wheelock you will be asked your name and the purpose of your visit, or it may be stated, "May I help you?"
When you enter the office, we would like you to sign in and take a visitor's badge.
When picking up students, staff will ask you to show a license. I do want you to know that we do not rotate staff at pick up, as they may do at other schools; so over time, our staff does know our regular parents who pick up very well. While it may feel odd to show your license in that case, it is all for student safety and to present a consistent protocol.
Safety is our highest priority. Our safety drills will begin soon for the year. Administration is working together with local law enforcement to ensure our plans reflect current practices. We had an unannounced fire drill recently, conducted by the fire department, that went quite well. It is important that we prepare our students and staff for any emergency situation. More information will be forthcoming in the future.
Have a great weekend!
