Dear Wheelock Families,
It's been another wonderful week at our school. We began our Food Drive extending until November 18th. This drive benefits the Medfield Food Pantry.
The Book Fair Game Night was a success. Many thanks to Jim James of Park Street Books and our PTO. The boys and girls voted and we will have a Backwards Day on November 10th.
Certainly this election season has has evoked great passion among many Americans. This election also provides a learning opportunity for our children. There is an opportunity for adults to model how to win or lose gracefully and respectfully. I came across this article from Allison Slater Tate who is a correspondent to the Today Show. While we do not plan to discuss the election results beyond concluding the electoral process with your students, if you choose to discuss the election with your own child, and are in need of some talking points for the conversation, this article may be helpful.
Of course, should our teachers hear any comments that require their intervention, they will handle it appropriately and let you know.
November 11th has always been a very meaningful day. For many members of the "Great Generation", it is a wedding anniversary. My own parents would have celebrated their 61st anniversary tomorrow.
I hope all of you have a wonderful long weekend. Happy Veterans Day!
