This week, Ellen Toubman, World Language Content Specialist, and I visited Memorial to explain Wheelock's world language program to Memorial first grade parents. The presentation and other documents should be posted on the Wheelock home page this week.
On January 21st at 9:30 am, Mrs. Olson, Mrs. Ellen Toubman, and our world language teachers, Mrs. Wang and Mrs. Simanski will bring a small group of world language students to Memorial School to present to the first graders so the boys and girls can gain a little knowledge of each language before talking over their choice with their parents. We hope you find this helpful. A Google form survey will be sent home to Memorial first grade parents on the 22nd of January for language selection.
As a reminder to Wheelock parents, a Google form will be sent home to grade 2 parents as well. At the end of the second grade year, you have the one time option to change your language. The next opportunity for changing a language will not occur until your student is entering grade 6.
Speaking of World Language...
On February 3, 2016, Mrs. Wang and her students will host a Chinese New Year Celebration from 1:45-2:45 in Wheelock's Big Gym. All are invited!
Many thanks to our PTO for our delicious holiday luncheon. We all appreciated it and all of your support!
Medfield Professional Development for Teachers
While our families began the long weekend early, Medfield teachers gathered at Wheelock to begin to dig in to PARCC. Jamee Callahan, Literacy Coordinator presented information to the elementary staff about the PARCC ELA assessment. Teachers spent time examining the assessment, how it compares to MCAS and planning future work.
The time was well spent. Thank you, Mrs. Callahan!
