We've had another wonderful week with your children. Thank you to all of the parents who came out for parent conferences. It was so nice to receive positive feedback about our school. Our staff is working very hard on behalf of your students.
Kudos to our Grade 2 teachers, parents and students for another great Science Fair. Great job, everyone!
Our teachers are involved in many learning opportunities. Many of you have heard your teachers talk about the Foss Science pilot. Trying out some Foss kits this year will help inform our practice and plans going forward. THe teachers who piltoed did a great job. Thank you, Mr. Kuehl, Mrs. Murphy, Ms. Connolly, and Miss Farell.
A number of Wheelock teachers are taking the SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) course after hours, but conveniently on site. Taking this course will satisfy DESE recertification when it's time for them to renew their licenses. Learning strategies to help our English Language Learners is very helpful to the whole class. Next year I believe Wheelock will have a large number of staff with this training, particuarly at the second grade level.
On Wednesday teachers benefitted from a half day of English Language Arts professional development with Jamee Callahan. The teachers are digging deep into the standards and their literacy practice. We continue to examine our word study practices.
Teams of Medfield teachers are participating in Innovation 2.0. This great opportunity to expand project based learning opportunities for our students will be great information for them to share with colleagues.
Ice Cream Social
Thursday's Ice Cream Social was a great success! Everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this great PTO event!
I am holding a Coffee with the Principal on Wednesday morning at 8:30. Please RSVP if attending. I will be reviewing placement and providing a Franklin update along with discussing social emotional opportunities for our students at Wheelock.
Have a great weekend!
