Welcome to a new school year! We are so excited to start the new year. Our PTO spent time painting and brightening our rest rooms. The children will notice positive, motivating sayings on the bathroom walls. The PTO is also responsible for the new TV in the foyer. We will be displaying Wheelock news daily. It is so colorful and welcoming. We love it! The Tech staff has been busy readying our technology tools for the new year. We look forward to introducing our new second graders to chrome books. Our school has been readied for the new year by our custodial and maintenance staff. Our secretaries also have been hard at work. Thank you Beth, and Mary Beth. Mary Beth Reddy had big shoes to fill when Luanne Monahan retired and she already has made an impact. Fantastic job, Mary Beth! We thank everyone for their support as we begin the year.
The first day of school was terrific. It was very hot so we departed from our routine. We held indoor recesses accessing all of our air conditioned spaces. Our PTO provided Popsicles. It actually made the day a little exciting! Thank you to our PTO for the last minute dash for the pops and thank you to the staff for all of their flexibility as we made our kiddos as comfortable as possible during this heat.
On Thursday, when it was cooler, we held our Welcome Back to School Assembly. We introduced new staff and reviewed a few routines. The boys and girls were so well-behaved!
A friendly reminder! The office staff is working very, very hard on your behalf. I don't know if you realize how hectic is it. Please do not assume that if you told MAP of a different after-school plan, that my staff knows bout it. They do not. It is not part of our protocol for MAP to inform us. If you make a change in your child's daily routine, we kindly ask you to submit a green slip with the information. If you need to call during the day with a change, please try to call before 2:00 to ensure the information is properly conveyed to the teacher and your child.
Also, it does take time for the bus route to become consistent and routine. Your best bet is to go out early and wait. In a few days, bus arrivals should be more predictable. Thank you for your understanding patience.
Here are a few pictures from the first few days! Have a great school year! Happy Labor Day Weekend!
