Dear Wheelock Families,
Week 2 has concluded! We are busy teaching our students routines. I have had a nice time meeting all second graders. I have been visiting each grade 2 class, reading Friendship Rules by Moss and Tardif. The story's theme is friendship and what it takes to be a good friend. It provides an opportunity to talk over Wheelock expectations, and our Core Values: Respect, Responsibility and Safety.
Our new Grade 2 students seem to understand our goals. Many of the children remember the "Golden Rule", which they learned at Memorial - treat people the way you want to be treated. They were very comfortable when I shared that Wheelock has that same motto.
I didn't forget! Today students who helped out with visiting school to be the model lesson student audience in June were treated to an extra recess. Some boys got into Gaga ball right away.
We have new families, more students and pick up is taking longer this year. Also, the doors were opening too early last year. We have to follow the schedule. Please be patient until pick up staff gets to know you.
Wheelock PIN is early this year! September 13th from 6:00-8:00 pm. See you there!
Happy Rosh Hashanah to those who celebrate! Enjoy the long weekend, everyone!
