Wheelock enjoyed a wonderful week of fun learning experiences.
I hope everyone enjoyed a happy, safe Halloween! The Halloween Parade is surely a highlight each year. Thank you to our room parents for all of their help. I think my Wheelock teachers and staff outdid themselves with their costumes this year. The students really shined too. Amazing creativity!
Grade 3 has been enjoying one of the most creative integrated units I've had the pleasure of observing. The Pilgrim unit with the culminating activity of Rocky Woods is outstanding. The experience is a lifelong memory. I hope you got to participate and enjoy it. The weather is always a Rocky Woods challenge that we manage every year. While it can be disconcerting to our parents, as you make arrangements to miss work, it really is something we have had to deal with frequently over the years. In order for the cook fires to cook the food and for the children to have a full experience, we try to provide the best weather conditions we can for the children.
Here are a few Rocky Woods photos!
Grade 2 teachers have been doing an absolutely fantastic job with their literacy instruction this past month. Our Literacy Coordinator, Jamee Callahan, and the teachers are using the integrated units from the Mass Department of Education website. The children are loving it. While these are old favorites, you still can't beat teaching using Henry and Mudge books in grade 2!
Have a great weekend!
